For the So-fish-ticated Gourmet

Our goal is to promote the health and taste benefits of cooking fish and seafood at home. Fish is easy and we want to prove it to you!

  • Have a question on how to cook a certain fish?
  • Need an quick and easy dinner party dish?

Dirk and Terry Fucik are a husband and wife team that use

their shared expertise to teach the classes.

We are both self made chefs who both cook and experiment with lots of different dishes and ingredients(Terry is an awesome cook and culinary genius). We try to focus on easy to prepare and tasty dishes using only the very best ingredients. All in a friendly and casual atmosphere with small classes. Fish and seafood is what we do best with various ethnic flairs thrown in, especially Cuban/Hispanic.

Fish is the original fast food and we specialize in showing you why!

Our classes are B.Y.O.B.

We encourage you to bring a bottle of you favorite wine,

a friend, a date, your mate and make a night of it!

You will walk away full of good food, good company and all the recipes we demonstrate that evening.

Our classes are held at the shop after hours.

CLASS SCHEDULES...            

Join us for one of our original cooking classes. We come up with many easy to prepare delicious fish and seafood recipes. Only sustainable ocean products are used in all our cooking classes so you can feel good about what you eat. Terry, Dirk's wife is an awesome cook and is instrumental in developing our recipes. We do our classes in the  store and we grill outside. Our classes are mostly demonstrations where you watch, ask questions and eat all that we prepare. B.Y.O.B. your favorite beverage and join us for a casual evening of educational fun and good eating. Come hungry, we serve all that we cook and it's always a very fulfilling meal!

All reservations need to be held by a  credit card deposit.

We provide an ample tasting of all our recipes.

In order to do this, we need an accurate count of all students.

*If you haven't canceled by the Saturday prevoius to the class that you've scheduled,

your credit card will be charged for the full price of the class.

No exceptions!

If you can't attend, send one of your friends, they will love it!

 

Private group classes require a $100.00 non refundable deposit.

These classes have a one week cancellation policy.

We need to know at least 7 days prior to canceling or changing these events.

Minimum of 10 people needed for a class. If we have less than 10 we will reschedule.

Taste of the Great Lakes

A Casual Buffet Dinner featuring Sustainable Fish of the Great Lakes.

Right in our own backyard lays one of the great wonders of the world, freshwater inland seas, called the Great Lakes. These lakes hold more than 20% of the world’s fresh water and are home to many different types of “local” and sustainable fish. Tonight’s dinner is a celebration of these fish, incorporated into our original recipes as a sumptuous feast for your taste buds. There will be a short presentation by Kassia Perpich, Shedd Aquarium's Sustainable Seafood Coordinator on the issues of sustainability and your fish choices. We will also do a run down on Shedd Aquarium’s Great Lakes Rite Bite card.

Dirk and Terry will then present 10 original dishes, family style, ranging from appetizers to main courses of only sustainable “local fish, such as…

 

Smoked rainbow trout wraps, Smoked whitefish spread, Panko fried smelt, Walleye sandwich, Fish croquettes, Plank smoked lake trout, Tempura perch, “Cook County’ fish boil, Miso glazed trout and Terry-aki white bass sushi.

 

This is not a cooking class though we will give out the recipes and product information. We want you to try some new foods, learn about what we can do to help our local aquatic environment, eat and have fun. We will have a raffle for a tasty prize too.

BYOB your favorite wine or beverage and we will provide the rest.

$10.00 of each class fee will be donated to the Wildlife Foundation of Florida for the Charles Stroh Fund for the Restoration of Davis Reef. An added bonus for your karma while satisfying your appetite! This dinner is limited to the first 25 people so call ASAP.

Celebrating Earth Week in Chicago 

An Underground Dinner:

Featuring Shedd Aquarium, Dirk's Fish and Sustainable Seafood
