 Shrimp Taco Marinade
  • This is our favorite marinade for shrimp for tacos. It actually works well with any kind of fish you would use for tacos too.
  • We like to use wild Gulf of Mexico shrimp only. Farm raised Asian shrimp just don't have the flavor or texture we like.
  • If you are grilling, which we prefer, use a larger raw peeled shrimp. If you are cooking in a pan, I like to use a smaller shrimp, like a 31/35 count size.

  • 1 pound wild Gulf of Mexico shrimp, raw peeled and deveined
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lime zest
  • 1 tablespoon fresh garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon hot smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon oregano

  • Mix all ingredients except shrimp together. Place shrimp in marinade and coat thoughly. Put everything in a ziplock bag in the refrigerator. Marinate a least 1 hour at room temperature. You can marinate overnight also but leave at room temperature a hour before cooking.
  • Grill large shrimp about 2 minutes per side on a hot grill. Small shrimp pan saute for 3 to 4  minutes in a pan.
  • Serves two hearty eaters.
