Whole Lobster on the Grill

Ingredients

  • 1 whole Maine lobster per person. 1.5 to 2 pounds is an average serving.

  • 2 tablespoons salted butter per each lobster ( I like Plugra or Vermont butters), melted

  • pot of water, large enough to accommodate lobsters

Directions

  • Bring pot of water to a roiling boil. Add lobsters, cook for 2 minutes. Remove from water. Place a towel on cutting board. Put lobster on its back and using a large chef knife, carefully cut into two halves. Remove the claws and with a sharp kitchen shears, carefully cut around the entire outside of the claw.

  • On a hot grill, place each lobster half open side down for 3 to 5 minutes. cook claws at the same time. Flip lobster shell side down, baste meat liberally with butter (careful with too much butter on the grill). Cook for 5 minutes or until butter is bubbling. Remove from grill and serve.
